Claude Haiku 5.5 brings faster AI to high-volume work
Anthropic has introduced Claude Haiku 5.5, a small model aimed at high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks. The company positions it for workloads where a fast answer matters as much as a long, complex response.
The announcement names summaries, database queries and classification among its uses. It also describes Haiku 5.5 as a companion to larger models for coding work, and as an option for live customer support and browser use.
Anthropic says the new model costs about 75% less to run on average than Haiku 4.5. That is a vendor claim, not a guarantee about the bill for every application. Actual spending still depends on the workload.
For builders, the practical question is whether a smaller model can handle more routine work without reducing quality. Test it against your own examples before replacing an existing model.
